Worktop repair for Darite homes

What your worktop is made of matters

Quartz

Quartz is tough, though edges can chip. Chips are filled with tinted resin and polished.

Laminate

A laminate worktop is a thin decorative layer on a board. We fill damage and paint in the pattern by hand.

How we handle worktop repair in Darite

Laminate, quartz, granite, solid surface and wooden worktops can all be repaired, matching the colour and pattern by hand. Nothing is taken out. Whether it’s a chipped edge and a damaged sink edge, we can help, on solid surface (such as Corian), solid wood and quartz alike.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

What we cannot put right

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Laminate swollen by water from underneath
  • Discolouration deep in quartz
  • Failed support under the worktop

Questions from Darite

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners across Cornwall.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Do the materials smell?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working, which fades afterwards.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

How do I book?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.

How we price worktop repair

Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Darite. What changes the price is:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • What the surface is made of
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to get a fixed quote

You can generally get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • The material, if you know it
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Keep joints and edges dry
  • Watch the edges with heavy pans
  • Re-oil timber worktops
  • Wipe up spills quickly

Use chopping boards and trivets, wipe spills straight away, and re-oil wooden worktops regularly.

Damage near the sink is worth repairing quickly, as water can get in and cause swelling.

How it works

We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take a few hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First we look at the damage and what the worktop is made of.
  2. We clean the area and prepare the edges of the damage.
  3. We fill with a filler suited to the material and rebuild any missing edge.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. Finally we seal or finish the area to match.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Let us know about parking or access

How to get a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Landlord and trade work in Darite

For anyone letting property in or around Darite, we will quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we’ll come back with a combined price.

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Should you replace it?

Even if you could get the same laminate, it may not match after years of light and use. A repair is matched to what you have now. Our worktop repair starts from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.
