Worktop repair for Greenhill homes

Different materials, different repairs

Granite and stone

Natural stone worktops chip at edges and around cut-outs. The repair is filled and polished to the stone’s finish.

Laminate

Laminate is a printed surface over a board. Chips and burns are filled and the pattern recreated.

Worktop repair in Greenhill without replacing anything

Worktops are expensive to replace and hard to match, especially in an L-shaped or long kitchen. A repair leaves the kitchen untouched. Typical jobs include scratches and knife marks and a dent from a dropped pan, across granite & marble, solid wood and quartz.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will sort it.

Honest limits

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear
  • Water-swollen laminate
  • A worktop that has moved because its support has failed

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Granite & marble
  • Solid wood
  • Quartz
  • Laminate
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)

How to look after the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Don’t knock pans against the edge
  • Always use a trivet for hot pans
  • Clean spills straight away
  • Re-oil timber worktops

Hot pans should always go on a trivet. Even stone and quartz can be marked by heat.

Damage near the sink is worth repairing quickly, as water can get in and cause swelling.

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

Landlord and trade work in Greenhill

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Greenhill use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • Access to the area
  • The material and finish
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many areas need work

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

Getting a price from photos

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • One picture of the entire worktop
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures through our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new worktop means taking out the damaged top, cutting and fitting a new one and refitting the sink and hob, and matching the rest of the kitchen can be hard. Repairing the damage leaves the worktop in place. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why us?

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Typically one visit, start to finish
  • Colour-matched on site

See our pricing.

What we do, step by step

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a few hours. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. The area around the damage is protected.
  2. We clean the damage and remove anything loose.
  3. We fill it and level it with the worktop.
  4. The colour and pattern are built up by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed and polished to match.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
