Worktop repair in Halton Lodge without replacing anything
Worktops are expensive to replace and hard to match, especially in an L-shaped or long kitchen. A repair leaves the kitchen untouched. We regularly repair laminate, solid wood and solid surface (such as Corian), and the jobs we see most are chipped corners and cuts and scratches in the surface.
Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Halton.

Repair or replace: which is better?
If the worktop is swollen by water or badly damaged along its length, replacement may be the answer. For chips, burns and scratches, a repair is the better value. Prices start from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

The process
On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to a few hours, including clearing up.
- First, we check the damage and the finish we need to match.
- Burnt or loose material is cut back.
- We fill and shape the damaged area.
- The pattern, flecks or grain are recreated.
- It’s finished to the same sheen and left to cure.
Preparing for the visit
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Ensure the area is dry
- Let us know which floor the room is on
Getting a price
There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.
Advice
Other services in Halton Lodge
Halton Lodge: your questions answered
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.
Is there any odour?
There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.
Do I have to be there?
Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.
Can you repair a chipped quartz worktop?
Yes. Chips on edges and around the sink are very common repairs, filled and polished to match.
How quickly can you book me in?
We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
Are you accredited?
We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.
Which areas do you work in?
Everywhere in the UK, Halton Lodge included. Travel is included in the price.
Is it messy?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.
Repairs by material
Quartz
Quartz is hard, but its edges are brittle. Chips are filled with tinted resin and polished to the worktop’s finish.
Wood
Timber tops can be sanded and refinished, with burns and dents put right.

What worktop repair costs
Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Halton Lodge. The price reflects:
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- The colour and finish to match
- Whether we combine several jobs
- How much damage there is
It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.
Getting a price from pictures
Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:
- Any details about the material
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- One sharp close-up of the damage
Most customers in Halton Lodge get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.
What we’re called out for in Halton Lodge
Cut-outs for the sink and hob are the weakest parts, so cracks and chips often start there.
Send us a photo if you notice any of these:
- Snagging damage in a new kitchen
- Scorch marks from pans
- Chips near the sink
- A chipped quartz edge
Before you book anyone
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
- Whether they match the colour on site
- How changes to the job are handled
Honest limits
In fairness, some problems need a different fix:
- Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear
- Cracks right through stone that has moved
- Laminate swollen by water from underneath
Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.
Materials we repair
- Laminate
- Granite & marble
- Solid wood
- Solid surface (such as Corian)
- Quartz
DIY repairs versus a professional job
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
Looking after it afterwards
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Clean spills straight away
- Oil wooden tops regularly
- Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz
- Keep joints and edges dry
Never put hot pans straight onto the worktop. Heat can mark quartz and stone as well.
Damage near the sink is worth repairing quickly, as water can get in and cause swelling.
