About our worktop repair in Hawkinge

Matching a pattern is the skilled part of a worktop repair. Colour, flecks and veining are recreated by hand so the repair blends in. We regularly repair granite & marble, laminate and quartz, and the jobs we see most are knife marks and dents and gouges.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

What worktop repair costs

Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Hawkinge. The price reflects:

  • How many areas need work
  • Access to the area
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How hard the colour is to match

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Quotes from your photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Send us pictures of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Hawkinge, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

FAQs for Hawkinge

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can you repair a chipped quartz worktop?

Yes, often. We match the colour and polish the repair.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Which areas do you work in?

The whole UK, including all of Kent. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Normally, yes. The old repair comes out first.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted.

Can a scorch mark be fixed?

Frequently, yes. We remove the damaged surface, fill it and recreate the pattern.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a worktop means taking out the damaged top, templating and fitting a replacement and refitting the sink and hob, and matching the rest of the kitchen can be hard. A repair leaves the worktop in place. Our worktop repair starts from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

How it works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a few hours. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We assess the damage and the worktop material.
  2. Next we clean up and prepare the damaged area.
  3. We fill the damage with a suitable filler and build up any lost edge.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The surface is sealed or finished to suit the worktop.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the worktop, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

When a repair is not the answer

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Laminate swollen by water from underneath
  • Discolouration deep in quartz
  • Through cracks in stone that is moving

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Granite & marble
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Solid wood
  • Laminate
  • Quartz

How to look after the repair

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Use a chopping board
  • Keep a trivet by the hob
  • Clean spills straight away
  • Oil wooden tops regularly

Hot pans should always go on a trivet. Even stone and quartz can be marked by heat.

Do not leave damage by the sink, as water can get in and cause swelling.

Repairs by material

Quartz

Quartz is tough, though edges can chip. We fill chips with a tinted resin and polish them.

Laminate

Laminate is a printed surface bonded to a board. Damage is filled and the pattern painted in by hand.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.
