Worktop repair in Hawthorn without replacing anything

A new worktop rarely matches the old one, particularly where several lengths join. Repairing the damage keeps your kitchen as it is. Whether it’s a chipped quartz edge and scratches and knife marks, we can typically put it right, on granite & marble, solid wood and quartz alike.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

How it works

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. Most visits take a few hours.

  1. First we look at the damage and what the worktop is made of.
  2. Next we clean up and prepare the damaged area.
  3. We fill the damage with a suitable filler and build up any lost edge.
  4. The colour and pattern are matched by hand.
  5. The surface is sealed or finished to suit the worktop.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Around the sink, water gets into joints on laminate and wood, and that can make them swell.

Common questions in Hawthorn

Can pets and children be at home?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

Can a quartz edge be fixed?

Yes. The repair is colour matched and polished to the quartz’s finish.

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and we will quote them together.

What worktop repair costs

Prices start from £95. There’s no area surcharge for Hawthorn. The price reflects:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The material and finish

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your photos

You can take the photos on your phone. Just make sure we can see:

  • A wider photo showing the whole worktop
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Any details about the material

Upload a picture of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Hawthorn, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a worktop means taking out the damaged top, templating and fitting a replacement and refitting the sink and hob, and matching the rest of the kitchen can be hard. A repair keeps your existing worktop. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Usually one visit, start to finish

What a repair cannot fix

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear
  • A cracked stone top that is unsupported
  • A worktop that has moved because its support has failed

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Solid wood
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Laminate
  • Granite & marble
  • Quartz

What your worktop is made of matters

Granite and stone

Natural stone worktops chip at edges and around cut-outs. The repair is filled and polished to the stone’s finish.

Wood

Wooden worktops can be sanded, filled and re-oiled, and burns and dents repaired.

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Oil wooden tops regularly
  • Don’t cut directly on the worktop
  • Steer clear of strong cleaners
  • Clean spills straight away

Hot pans should always go on a trivet. Even stone and quartz can be marked by heat.

A burn or chip can get worse with daily use particularly around the sink. Repairing it sooner keeps the job smaller.
