About our worktop repair in Heyheads

A damaged worktop doesn’t have to mean a new kitchen. We fill and refinish the damage to blend into the surface around it. Common call-outs are for snagging damage in a new kitchen and chips on edges and corners, across laminate, quartz and solid surface (such as Corian).

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll come back.

DIY kit or professional repair?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Stone and quartz have to be templated and cut, so replacing one section is a big job. A repair takes a few hours. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

10 questions to ask before you book

Heyheads questions

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Can you repair a burn in a worktop?

In most cases. A picture lets us check.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

What happens after I send photos?

You will get a fixed quote back, plus dates. You are under no obligation.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners across Tameside.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you’ll get one combined price.

What information do you need?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

How it works

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. Most visits take a few hours, tidy-up included.

  1. First, we check the damage and the finish we need to match.
  2. Burnt or loose material is cut back.
  3. The area is filled and shaped.
  4. We recreate the pattern, flecks or grain.
  5. We finish it to match the sheen and leave it to cure.

How to prepare

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz
  • Always use a trivet for hot pans
  • Keep wood oiled
  • Use a chopping board

Hot pans should always go on a trivet. Heat can mark quartz and stone as well.

A chip on an edge can grow, and water can reach the core of laminate. Repairing it early stops that.
