Worktop repair near High Biggins

Worktop repair in High Biggins, done in place

Different worktops need different repairs: we fill and pattern laminate, fill and polish quartz and stone, and sand and refinish wood. The goal is always a repair that blends in. Whether it’s burns from hot pans and damage around the sink cut-out, we can typically put it right.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Different materials, different repairs

Quartz

Quartz is tough, though edges can chip. We fill chips with a tinted resin and polish them to the worktop’s finish.

Granite and stone

Granite and stone chip at edges and cut-outs. We fill and polish the repair to match the stone.

Aftercare tips

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Keep joints and edges dry
  • Oil wooden tops regularly
  • Never put hot pans down directly
  • Do not leave spills to soak in

Hot pans should always go on a trivet. Heat can mark quartz and stone as well.

Edge chips can get bigger, and on laminate, water can get into the core. An early repair prevents it.

Can a quartz edge be fixed?

Yes, frequently. We match the colour and polish the repair.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.

Can you quote from pictures?

What a repair can’t fix

We will not take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • A top that moves on its units
  • Laminate swollen by water from underneath
  • Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Solid wood
  • Laminate
  • Granite & marble
  • Quartz

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the worktop is swollen by water or badly damaged along its length, replacement may be the answer. For chips, burns and scratches, repair is normally far better value. Prices start from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

10 questions to ask before booking

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It generally takes a morning or an afternoon, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First, we check the damage and the finish we need to match.
  2. Burnt or loose material is cut back.
  3. We fill and shape the damaged area.
  4. The pattern, flecks or grain are recreated.
  5. It’s finished to the same sheen and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
