About our worktop repair in Ironbridge

A damaged worktop does not have to mean a new kitchen. We fill and refinish the damage to blend into the surface around it. We regularly repair granite & marble, solid wood and laminate, and people most frequently call us about damage around the sink cut-out and cuts and scratches in the surface.

Every job is backed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Can I fix it myself?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

What worktop repair costs

Repairs from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • What the surface is made of
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether we combine several jobs

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Getting a price from pictures

Phone photos are fine, there is no need for anything special. Make sure they show:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Any details about the material
  • One picture of the whole worktop
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

Send us a picture of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you’re in Ironbridge, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Quartz

Quartz worktops are mostly stone set in resin. We fill and polish chipped edges.

Laminate

Laminate worktops have a printed decorative layer over a board core. We fill the damage and recreate the pattern by hand.

What we’re called out for in Ironbridge

Around the sink, water gets into joints on laminate and wood, which can cause swelling.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • A heat mark or burn
  • A damaged sink edge
  • A chipped quartz edge
  • A chipped edge

What to look for in a quote

  • What happens if they find more damage
  • If travel is included in the price
  • How long it needs to cure
  • What preparation is included

Our hiring checklist

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swollen or badly damaged laminate may need replacing. For chips, burns and scratches, repair is typically far better value. Our worktop repair starts from £95. A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

The process

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll get on with it. Most visits take a morning or an afternoon, tidy-up included.

  1. We protect the rest of the kitchen.
  2. The damage is cleaned and any loose material removed.
  3. It’s filled and levelled with the surface.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. We seal and polish it to the right sheen.

Before we arrive

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the worktop, include your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Work for landlords and builders

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Telford and Wrekin and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Do not knock pans against the edge
  • Re-oil timber worktops
  • Wipe up spills quickly
  • Use pH-neutral cleaners on stone

Hot pans should always go on a trivet. Heat can mark quartz and stone as well.

Do not leave damage by the sink, as water can get in and cause swelling.

Ironbridge: your questions answered

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

Do you come to Ironbridge?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Ironbridge. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.
