What a repair can’t fix

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Discolouration deep in quartz
  • Through cracks in stone that is moving
  • A worktop that has moved because its support has failed

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Laminate
  • Granite & marble
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Quartz
  • Solid wood

Different materials, different repairs

Granite and stone

Granite and stone chip at edges and cut-outs. We fill and polish the repair to match the stone.

Wood

Timber tops can be sanded and refinished, and burns and dents repaired.

FAQs for Lower Eype

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.

Do you work in Lower Eype?

We do. Repair technicians travel to Lower Eype from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Can tenants book a repair?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

How much do I need to move?

Just clear the area around the damage. We protect the rest of the kitchen.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Keeping it looking good

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Steer clear of strong cleaners
  • Keep wood oiled
  • Watch the edges with heavy pans
  • Don’t cut directly on the worktop

Let the repair cure for the time we give you before putting anything heavy or hot on it. After that, trivets and chopping boards protect it best.

Do not leave damage by the sink, because water gets in and swells the board.

Why repair rather than replace?

Stone and quartz tops are templated and cut to fit, so replacing one section is a big job. Repairing it is a few hours’ work. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Lower Eype. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why Lower Eype clients choose us

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • A fixed quote before you book
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

The process

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you are not left guessing. Once we’re there, the work takes a morning or an afternoon in most cases. We leave the room clean and you will know when it can be used.

  1. The area around the damage is protected.
  2. We clean the damage and remove anything loose.
  3. It’s filled and levelled with the surface.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. We seal and polish it to the right sheen.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Advice

What we’re called out for in Lower Eype

Worktops take more punishment than anything else in the kitchen. Hot pans leave burns, knives cut, and edges chip when heavy pans or tins hit them.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Chipped corners
  • Dents and gouges
  • Damage to a stone worktop
  • Burns from hot pans

Choosing a repair company

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Lower Eype. What changes the price is:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • What the surface is made of

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Quotes from your pictures

Phone pictures are fine, there’s no need for anything special. Make sure they show:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A photo taken from further back

Email us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your DT6 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.
