Bath re-enamelling in Lower Eype without replacing anything

We don’t move the bath, so the taps, tiles and plumbing aren’t touched. It generally takes one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. We work on Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and cast iron baths, and people most often call us about several chips and rust patches and an outdated colour you’d like to change.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Lower Eype and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Keeping it looking good

Aftercare is simple:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately

Dry the bath after use if possible, especially in hard water areas, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Repair or replace: which is better?

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Nothing else is disturbed. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

FAQs for Lower Eype

Can you price it without visiting?

Generally, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Do you cover Lower Eype?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Lower Eype and the rest of Dorset. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Will there be fumes?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It clears as the finish cures.

Do I need to be at home?

How the visit works

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you are not left guessing. Once we are there, the work takes most of the day in most cases. We leave the room clean and you will know when it can be used.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Related advice

When we’d advise against a repair

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Steel that has corroded right through

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job. What matters most is:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material

We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed quote

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To help us price it:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Lower Eype as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we will arrange it.
