How we handle worktop repair in Mainsforth

Each type of worktop needs a different approach: we fill and pattern laminate, fill and polish quartz and stone, and sand and refinish wood. We always aim for a repair that blends in. We work on solid wood, solid surface (such as Corian) and granite & marble, and common reasons people contact us are chipped corners and damage around the sink cut-out.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

How we price worktop repair

Repairs from £95. You’ll know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • How much damage there is
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Access to the area
  • What the surface is made of

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

How to get a fixed price

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • The material, if you know it
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A wider photo showing the whole worktop

If you’re in Mainsforth and want a price, photos are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

How it works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a morning or an afternoon. If anything looks different from your pictures, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. First, we check the damage and the finish we need to match.
  2. Burnt or loose material is cut back.
  3. The area is filled and shaped.
  4. The pattern, flecks or grain are recreated.
  5. We finish it to match the sheen and leave it to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Questions from Mainsforth

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Can a scorch mark be fixed?

Frequently, yes. We remove the damaged surface, fill it and recreate the pattern.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Can you match the pattern on my worktop?

We match colour, flecks and veining by hand, so the repair blends into the surface.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Normally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

When we’d advise against a repair

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Water-swollen laminate
  • A worktop that has moved because its support has failed
  • Severe heat marks in quartz

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Quartz
  • Granite & marble
  • Laminate
  • Solid wood

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Don’t let water sit on joints
  • Chopping boards prevent scratches
  • Never put hot pans down directly
  • Wipe up spills quickly

Hot pans should always go on a trivet. Even stone and quartz can be marked by heat.

Edge chips can get bigger, and water can reach the core of laminate. An early repair prevents it.

Do you need worktop repair in Mainsforth?

Water around the sink can get into laminate and wood joints, which can cause swelling.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Damage to a stone worktop
  • Dents and gouges
  • Burns from hot pans
  • A damaged sink edge

What to look for in a quote

  • What preparation is included
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • How long it needs to cure

How to compare quotes

What your worktop is made of matters

Laminate

Laminate is a printed surface bonded to a board. We fill damage and paint in the pattern by hand.

Granite and stone

Natural stone worktops chip at edges and around cut-outs. The repair is filled and polished to the stone’s finish.
