What your worktop is made of matters
Granite and stone
Natural stone worktops chip at edges and around cut-outs. We fill and polish the repair to match the stone.
Solid surface
Solid surface tops are the same material all the way through, so marks can often be sanded and refinished.
What worktop repair costs
Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Monkhams. What changes the price is:
- The size and number of damaged areas
- What kind of damage it is
- How easy the damage is to reach
- Doing more than one item at once
We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Monkhams. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Quotes from your pictures
When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- One picture of the whole worktop
- Any details about the material
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.
Common problems we fix in Monkhams
Most worktop damage takes a second: a hot pan set straight down, or a heavy pan catching the edge. Scratches build up more slowly, from knives and grit.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- Dents and gouges
- Chips on edges and corners
- Snagging damage in a new kitchen
- A chipped quartz edge

- Whether the price covers travel

What a repair cannot fix
Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:
- Through cracks in stone that is moving
- Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear
- Water-swollen laminate
If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.
Materials we repair
- Granite & marble
- Solid wood
- Quartz
- Laminate
- Solid surface (such as Corian)
Looking after it afterwards
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Keep joints and edges dry
- Wipe up spills quickly
- Keep a trivet by the hob
- Use pH-neutral cleaners on stone
Hot pans should always go on a trivet. Heat can mark quartz and stone as well.
Damage near the sink is worth repairing quickly, as water can get in and cause swelling.
FAQs for Monkhams
Do I need to clear the kitchen?
Just clear the area around the damage. The rest is covered and protected.
Do you work in Monkhams?
Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Monkhams. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
What does worktop repair cost?
Repairs from £95. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.
Is a repair better than a new one?
Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
Can you repair a burn in a worktop?
Frequently, yes. The burn is cut back, filled and patterned to match.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
In nearly every case. If photos don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.
Will it make a mess?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Of course, and it generally saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you’ll get one combined price.
What we do, step by step
When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job normally takes a morning or an afternoon. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.
- We look at the damage and the worktop’s finish.
- We cut back any burnt or loose material.
- We fill and shape the damaged area.
- We recreate the pattern, flecks or grain.
- We finish it to match the sheen and leave it to cure.
Before we arrive
- Let us know if it has been repaired before
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Can I fix it myself?
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

Repair or replace: which is better?
A new worktop means taking out the damaged top, cutting and fitting a new one and refitting the sink and hob, and matching the rest of the kitchen can be hard. Repairing the damage keeps your existing worktop. Prices start from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
