Trusted worktop repair in Mountain Hare

Worktop repair in Mountain Hare, done in place

Matching a pattern is the skilled part of a worktop repair. We build up the colour and flecks by hand so the repair blends in. Our technicians work on solid surface (such as Corian), solid wood and laminate, and the jobs we see most are damage from fitting or building work and damage to a stone worktop.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we will come back.

What your worktop is made of matters

Solid surface

Solid surface tops are the same material all the way through, so marks can frequently be sanded and refinished.

Quartz

Quartz is hard, but its edges are brittle. We fill chips with a tinted resin and polish them to the worktop’s finish.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It typically takes a few hours, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. First we look at the damage and what the worktop is made of.
  2. We clean the area and prepare the edges of the damage.
  3. A filler that suits the material goes in, and missing edges are rebuilt.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. We seal or finish the surface to suit the worktop.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

How to get a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Related advice

Should you replace it?

If the worktop is swollen by water or badly damaged along its length, replacement may be the answer. For chips, burns and scratches, a repair is the better value. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why book with us

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing

How we price worktop repair

Repairs from £95. Each job gets its own fixed quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The colour and finish to match
  • The material and finish
  • Whether we combine several jobs

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Quotes from your photos

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A photo taken from further back

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

When we’d advise against a repair

We won’t take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Severe heat marks in quartz
  • Cracks right through stone that has moved
  • A top that moves on its units

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Quartz
  • Solid wood
  • Granite & marble
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Laminate

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Keep joints and edges dry
  • Always use a trivet for hot pans
  • Keep wood oiled
  • Clean spills straight away

Let the repair cure for the time we give you before putting anything heavy or hot on it. After that, trivets and chopping boards protect it best.

A burn or chip can get worse with daily use particularly around the sink. Repairing it sooner keeps the job smaller.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Common problems we fix in Mountain Hare

Kitchen worktops have a hard life. Hot pans leave burns, knives cut, and heavy pans chip the edges.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Dents and gouges
  • Burns from hot pans
  • Cuts and scratches in the surface
  • Chips caused during installation
