How we handle worktop repair in Norbury

A worktop repair is carried out in your kitchen, with the area around the damage covered. Most repairs take a few hours, and you can use the worktop again shortly afterwards. We work on solid surface (such as Corian), solid wood and quartz, and common reasons people contact us are knife marks and a dent from a dropped pan.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Take care with heavy pans near edges
  • Never put hot pans down directly
  • Do not let water sit on joints
  • Use a chopping board

Wipe water away from joints and around the sink, especially on laminate and wood.

Do not leave damage by the sink, as water can get in and cause swelling.

What we are called out for in Norbury

Cut-outs for the sink and hob are the weakest parts, and that is where cracks often begin.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • Chipped corners
  • Scorch marks from pans
  • Dents and gouges
  • A damaged sink edge

Why repair rather than replace?

An identical replacement may look different next to aged worktops. A repair is matched to what you have now. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why Norbury customers choose us

  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Water-swollen laminate
  • Severe heat marks in quartz
  • Cracks right through stone that has moved

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Granite and stone

Natural stone worktops chip at edges and around cut-outs. We fill and polish the repair to match the stone.

Quartz

Quartz is hard, but its edges are brittle. We fill chips with a tinted resin and polish them to the worktop’s finish.
