Worktop repair near Nuneaton

About our worktop repair in Nuneaton

The hard part of a worktop repair is matching the pattern. Colour, flecks and veining are recreated by hand. Typical jobs include knife marks and chips on edges and corners, on solid surface (such as Corian), granite & marble and solid wood.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Nuneaton and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Common questions in Nuneaton

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Can a scorch mark be fixed?

Usually, yes. We remove the damaged surface, fill it and recreate the pattern.

Do I need to empty the worktop?

Only the area we are working on. We protect the rest of the kitchen.

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

What we can’t put right

We will not take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • A worktop that has moved because its support has failed
  • Cracks right through stone that has moved
  • Laminate that has blown or swollen

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we work on in Nuneaton

  • Granite & marble
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Laminate
  • Quartz
  • Solid wood

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How much damage there is
  • What the surface is made of

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

How to get a fixed price

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A photo taken from further back

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Keeping it looking good

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Re-oil timber worktops
  • Clean spills straight away
  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz
  • Keep a trivet by the hob

Leave the repaired area free of hot or heavy items until it has cured. After that, trivets and chopping boards protect it best.

A chip on an edge can grow, and water can reach the core of laminate. An early repair prevents it.

What we are called out for in Nuneaton

Edges and corners chip most often, often when something heavy catches the edge.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Chips in quartz or granite
  • Gouges in the surface
  • Chips near the sink
  • A chipped edge

What your quote should include

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • How your room will be protected
  • How soon you can use it again

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the worktop is swollen by water or badly damaged along its length, replacement may be the answer. For chips, burns and scratches, repair is typically far better value. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

How it works

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It usually takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. The area around the damage is protected.
  2. We clean the damage and remove anything loose.
  3. We fill it and level it with the worktop.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed and polished to match.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
