What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a few hours, depending on the damage. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. First, we check the damage and the finish we need to match.
  2. Burnt or loose material is cut back.
  3. We fill and shape the damaged area.
  4. The pattern, flecks or grain are recreated.
  5. It’s finished to the same sheen and left to cure.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to Padstow. The price depends on:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The size and number of damaged areas

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Send pictures for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A wider photo showing the entire worktop
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Common questions in Padstow

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders in Padstow.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair isn’t disturbed while it cures.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working that clears as it cures.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Which areas do you work in?

The entire UK, including all of Cornwall. Send your postcode with your photos and we will offer you dates.

What happens after I send photos?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

Will the price change on the day?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

How much do I need to move?

Only around the repair. The rest of the kitchen stays usable.

Repairs by material

Laminate

Laminate worktops have a printed decorative layer over a board core. Chips and burns are filled and the pattern recreated.

Granite and stone

Granite and stone chip at edges and cut-outs. The repair is filled and polished to the stone’s finish.

Landlord and trade work in Padstow

For anyone letting property in or around Padstow, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we will price them together.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Padstow as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

When to call us in Padstow

Worktops take more punishment than anything else in the kitchen. Hot pans leave burns, knives leave scratches, and edges chip when heavy pans or tins hit them.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Chipped corners
  • Knife marks
  • Damage around the sink cut-out
  • A chipped quartz edge

Questions to ask before booking

  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Who will actually do the work
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • If travel is included in the price

Choosing a repair company

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What a repair cannot fix

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • A worktop that has moved because its support has failed
  • Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear
  • Through cracks in stone that is moving

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Laminate
  • Quartz
  • Granite & marble
  • Solid wood

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Dry around the sink and joints
  • Always use a trivet for hot pans
  • Use a chopping board
  • Oil wooden tops regularly

Use chopping boards and trivets, wipe spills straight away, and re-oil wooden worktops regularly.

A chip on an edge can grow, and on laminate, water can get into the core. An early repair prevents it.
