Signs you need worktop repair in Park Bridge

Most worktop damage takes a second: a hot pan put down without a trivet, or a heavy pan knocked against the edge. Scratches build up more slowly, from knives and grit.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Dents and gouges
  • Chips in quartz or granite
  • Damage around the sink cut-out
  • Cuts and scratches in the surface

How to compare quotes

Should you replace it?

Even a single new length of worktop means templating, cutting and refitting the sink and hob. A repair is a few hours with everything left in place. Prices start from £95. Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Park Bridge

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Discolouration deep in quartz
  • A top that moves on its units
  • Laminate that has blown or swollen

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Granite & marble
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Laminate
  • Solid wood
  • Quartz

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

What happens on the day

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and clear up. Plan for a few hours, depending on the damage from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We protect the rest of the kitchen.
  2. We clean the damage and remove anything loose.
  3. We fill it and level it with the worktop.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. We seal and polish it to the right sheen.

How to prepare

  • Open a window if you can
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Advice

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Take care with heavy pans near edges
  • Dry around the sink and joints
  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz
  • Do not cut directly on the worktop

Always use a trivet and chopping board, wipe spills immediately, and keep wooden tops oiled.

Do not leave damage by the sink, as water can get in and cause swelling.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Granite and stone

Natural stone worktops chip at edges and around cut-outs. The repair is filled and polished to the stone’s finish.

Quartz

Quartz is hard, but its edges are brittle. Chips are filled with tinted resin and polished to the worktop’s finish.
