Worktop repair in Philadelphia

Worktop repair in Philadelphia, done in place

Matching a pattern is the skilled part of a worktop repair. Colour, flecks and veining are recreated by hand. If you’re dealing with gouges in the surface and a heat mark or burn, we can help, on solid surface (such as Corian), laminate and solid wood alike.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • A cracked stone top that is unsupported
  • Failed support under the worktop
  • Water-swollen laminate

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Solid wood
  • Quartz
  • Laminate
  • Granite & marble

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Common problems we fix in Philadelphia

Most worktop damage takes a second: a hot pan put down without a trivet, or a heavy pan knocked against the edge. Scratches build up more slowly, from knives and grit.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Burns from hot pans
  • Knife marks
  • Damage from fitting or building work
  • Gouges in the surface

Questions to ask before booking

Repair or replace: which is better?

Stone and quartz tops are templated and cut to fit, so replacing a section takes time and money. A repair takes a few hours. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Philadelphia. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

For landlords and businesses

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we will arrange it.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz
  • Watch the edges with heavy pans
  • Wipe up spills quickly
  • Don’t cut directly on the worktop

Never put hot pans straight onto the worktop. Even stone and quartz can be marked by heat.

Edge chips can get bigger, and on laminate, water can get into the core. An early repair prevents it.

Different materials, different repairs

Laminate

Laminate worktops have a printed decorative layer over a board core. Chips and burns are filled and the pattern recreated by hand.

Solid surface

Solid surface materials are uniform throughout, so scratches and burns can frequently be sanded out and refinished.

The process

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for a few hours. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and how to care for it.

  1. We look at the damage and the worktop’s finish.
  2. We cut back any burnt or loose material.
  3. The area is filled and shaped.
  4. The pattern, flecks or grain are recreated.
  5. It’s finished to the same sheen and left to cure.
