Landlords, agents and businesses in Puddledock

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Puddledock as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

What your worktop is made of matters

Laminate

A laminate worktop is a thin decorative layer on a board. Damage is filled and the pattern painted in by hand.

Quartz

Quartz is crushed stone bound with resin. Edge chips are very common, and we fill and polish them to match the sheen.

Honest limits

A repair is not always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Laminate that has blown or swollen
  • A cracked stone top that is unsupported
  • Failed support under the worktop

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we repair

Questions from Puddledock

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

Which areas do you work in?

Everywhere in the UK, Puddledock included. There is no extra charge for travel.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Do you repair quartz?

Yes. Chips on edges and around the sink are very common repairs, filled and polished to match.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

Why repair rather than replace?

Stone and quartz have to be templated and cut, so replacing one section is a big job. Repairing it is a few hours’ work. Our worktop repair starts from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How we price worktop repair

Prices start from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • How many areas need work
  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What kind of damage it is

Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Quotes from your pictures

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A wider photo showing the entire worktop
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the worktop, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

The process

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take a morning or an afternoon, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We protect the rest of the kitchen.
  2. We clean the damage and remove anything loose.
  3. It’s filled and levelled with the surface.
  4. The colour and pattern are built up by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed and polished to match.

How to prepare

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Getting a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Use a chopping board
  • Watch the edges with heavy pans
  • Clean spills right away
  • Keep a trivet by the hob

Leave the repaired area free of hot or heavy items until it has cured. After that, trivets and chopping boards are your best protection.

A chip on an edge can grow, and on laminate, water can get into the core. Repairing it early stops that.
