Worktop repair in Rennington

Worktop repair in Rennington without replacing anything

We repair worktops in place, with the rest of the kitchen protected. Most jobs take a few hours, and you can use the worktop again shortly afterwards. Our repair technicians work on solid surface (such as Corian), solid wood and granite & marble, and common reasons people contact us are scratches and knife marks and burns from hot pans.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

How we price worktop repair

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Access to the area
  • How much damage there is

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Send photos for a quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Any details about the material
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Details of any past repairs

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

The process

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take a few hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We protect the rest of the kitchen.
  2. The damage is cleaned and any loose material removed.
  3. It’s filled and levelled with the surface.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed and polished to match.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Open a window if you can

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the worktop, include your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Advice

What a repair can’t fix

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • A worktop that has moved because its support has failed
  • Laminate swollen by water from underneath
  • Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

What we work on

  • Laminate
  • Solid wood
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Granite & marble
  • Quartz

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Re-oil timber worktops
  • Keep joints and edges dry
  • Take care with heavy pans near edges
  • Wipe up spills quickly

Wipe water away from joints and around the sink, particularly with laminate and timber.

Edge chips can get bigger, and on laminate, water can get into the core. Repairing it early stops that.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a worktop means taking out the damaged top, templating and fitting a replacement and refitting the sink and hob, and it may not match the rest of the kitchen. A repair keeps your existing worktop. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Rennington: your questions answered

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Can you repair a chipped quartz worktop?

Yes, frequently. The repair is colour-matched and polished to the quartz’s finish.

Can you quote from pictures?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

How much do I need to move?

Only around the repair. You can typically still use the rest of the kitchen.

Will the repair match a patterned worktop?

Yes. We recreate the pattern by hand so it blends in.

How soon can you come?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Common problems we fix in Rennington

Around the sink, water gets into joints on laminate and wood, and that can make them swell.

  • Damage from fitting or building work
  • Damage to a stone worktop
  • Burns from hot pans
  • Damage around the sink cut-out

What your quote should include

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • Who will actually do the work
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

10 questions to ask before booking

Landlord and trade work in Rennington

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Rennington as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
