Worktop repair for Sandhills homes

Why repair rather than replace?

Even a single new length of worktop means templating, cutting and refitting the sink and hob. A repair takes a few hours and leaves everything in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Worktop repair in Sandhills, done in place

Worktops are expensive to replace and hard to match, especially in an L-shaped or long kitchen. A repair leaves the kitchen untouched. If you’re dealing with chips near the sink and chips in quartz or granite, we can usually put it right, whatever the material.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book.

How it works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. First we look at the damage and what the worktop is made of.
  2. The area is cleaned and the edges of the damage prepared.
  3. A filler that suits the material goes in, and missing edges are rebuilt.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. Finally we seal or finish the area to match.

Preparing for the visit

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Advice

Common questions in Sandhills

Can you repair a burn in a worktop?

In most cases. A photo lets us check.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Can you quote from pictures?

Nearly always. If pictures do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Do the materials smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Do you repair quartz?

Yes. Chips on edges and around the sink are very common repairs, matched and polished.

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

What we can’t put right

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Laminate that has blown or swollen
  • Discolouration deep in quartz
  • Failed support under the worktop

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we work on in Sandhills

  • Solid wood
  • Granite & marble
  • Laminate
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Quartz

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

What worktop repair costs

Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Unusual colours or finishes

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from photos

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • One picture of the entire worktop

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the worktop, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Different materials, different repairs

Wood

Wooden worktops can be sanded, filled and re-oiled, with burns and dents put right.

Quartz

Quartz is tough, though edges can chip. Chips are filled with tinted resin and polished.

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Use pH-neutral cleaners on stone
  • Wipe up spills quickly
  • Re-oil timber worktops
  • Keep joints and edges dry

Leave the repaired area free of hot or heavy items until it has cured. After that, trivets and chopping boards are your best protection.

Do not leave damage by the sink, as water can get in and cause swelling.
