What a repair cannot fix

A repair is not always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • Failed support under the worktop
  • Discolouration deep in quartz
  • Cracks right through stone that has moved

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Quartz
  • Solid wood
  • Granite & marble
  • Laminate
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)

How to care for the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Keep a trivet by the hob
  • Steer clear of strong cleaners
  • Chopping boards prevent scratches
  • Take care with heavy pans near edges

Hot pans should always go on a trivet. Heat can mark quartz and stone as well.

Daily use can make burns and chips worse. An earlier repair is a smaller repair.

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. It typically takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We start by checking the damage and the worktop material.
  2. The area is cleaned and the edges of the damage prepared.
  3. We fill the damage with a suitable filler and build up any lost edge.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. We seal or finish the surface to suit the worktop.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Dents and gouges
  • Damage around the sink cut-out
  • Cuts and scratches in the surface
  • Chips caused during installation

Should you replace it?

A new worktop means removing the old one, templating and fitting a replacement and refitting the sink and hob, and it may not match the rest of the kitchen. A repair leaves the worktop in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

What worktop repair costs

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What kind of damage it is
  • The material and finish
  • How much damage there is

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Stowting. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Any details about the material
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Details of any past repairs

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Stowting

For anyone letting property in or around Stowting, we will quote for several properties at once. Send pictures for each one and we will come back with a combined price.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
