Trusted worktop repair in Streethouse

Common questions in Streethouse

Is a burnt worktop repairable?

Often, yes. We remove the damaged surface, fill it and recreate the pattern.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

What happens after I send photos?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

What areas do you cover?

We cover the whole UK, including Streethouse and the rest of Wakefield. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.

Can tenants book a repair?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Are there extra charges for Streethouse?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

Worktop repair in Streethouse, done in place

The hard part of a worktop repair is matching the pattern. Colour, flecks and veining are recreated by hand. Typical jobs include chipped corners and a heat mark or burn, in granite & marble, solid surface (such as Corian) and solid wood.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

When we would advise against a repair

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Through cracks in stone that is moving
  • Failed support under the worktop
  • Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Laminate
  • Granite & marble
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Solid wood
  • Quartz

What we are called out for in Streethouse

Cut-outs for the sink and hob are the weakest parts, and that’s where cracks frequently begin.

People usually call us when they notice something like this:

  • Damage to a stone worktop
  • A dent from a dropped pan
  • Chips on edges and corners
  • Damage around the sink cut-out

Before booking anyone

  • How soon you can use it again
  • If travel is included in the price
  • Who will actually do the work
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price

Our hiring checklist

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Streethouse as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

What happens on the day

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a few hours, depending on the damage. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. First, we check the damage and the finish we need to match.
  2. Burnt or loose material is cut back.
  3. The area is filled and shaped.
  4. We recreate the pattern, flecks or grain.
  5. We finish it to match the sheen and leave it to cure.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Don’t cut directly on the worktop
  • Oil wooden tops regularly
  • Take care with heavy pans near edges
  • Steer clear of strong cleaners

Never put hot pans straight onto the worktop. Heat can mark quartz and stone as well.

A chip on an edge can grow, and on laminate, water can get into the core. An early repair prevents it.

Repairs by material

Quartz

Quartz worktops are mostly stone set in resin. We fill and polish chipped edges.

Wood

Timber tops can be sanded and refinished, and burns and dents repaired.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The colour and finish to match
  • The material and finish
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Compared with replacing, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Send photos for a quote

You can generally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • The material, if you know it
  • A wider photo showing the whole worktop
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Most customers in Streethouse get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.
