How the visit works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It generally takes a morning or an afternoon, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First, we check the damage and the finish we need to match.
  2. Burnt or loose material is cut back.
  3. The area is filled and shaped.
  4. We recreate the pattern, flecks or grain.
  5. It’s finished to the same sheen and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Advice

Worktop repair in Stretton, done in place

A new worktop rarely matches the old one, particularly where several lengths join. A repair leaves the kitchen untouched. We regularly repair laminate, granite & marble and quartz, and people most often call us about chips on edges and corners and a heat mark or burn.

All our work comes with a one-year guarantee.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Never put hot pans down directly
  • Keep wood oiled
  • Do not let water sit on joints
  • Do not leave spills to soak in

Leave the repaired area free of hot or heavy items until it has cured. After that, trivets and chopping boards are your best protection.

Edge chips can get bigger, and water can reach the core of laminate. An early repair prevents it.

What your worktop is made of matters

Laminate

Laminate is a printed surface bonded to a board. Damage is filled and the pattern painted in by hand.

Solid surface

Solid surface materials are uniform throughout, so scratches and burns can frequently be sanded out and refinished.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • A worktop that has moved because its support has failed
  • Discolouration deep in quartz
  • Water-swollen laminate

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Stretton. The price depends on:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material and finish

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Send pictures for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and no obligation.
