Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Sutton-on-Hull use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

How we handle worktop repair in Sutton-on-Hull

The hard part of a worktop repair is matching the pattern. Colour, flecks and veining are recreated by hand so the repair blends in. We regularly repair quartz, solid surface (such as Corian) and solid wood, and people most often call us about a chipped edge and chips in quartz or granite.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Even a single new length of worktop means templating, cutting and refitting the sink and hob. A repair is a few hours with everything left in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

When we’d advise against a repair

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Laminate that has blown or swollen
  • Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear
  • A cracked stone top that is unsupported

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Solid wood
  • Quartz
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Laminate
  • Granite & marble

How the visit works

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, then carry out the work, which typically takes a morning or an afternoon. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We look at the damage and the worktop’s finish.
  2. Burnt or loose material is cut back.
  3. The area is filled and shaped.
  4. We recreate the pattern, flecks or grain.
  5. We finish it to match the sheen and leave it to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Advice

Sutton-on-Hull: your questions answered

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

How do I book?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Can you match granite flecks?

Yes, the pattern is built up by hand so it blends in.

Can a quartz edge be fixed?

Yes, frequently. The repair is colour-matched and polished to the quartz’s finish.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Normally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

What your worktop is made of matters

Wood

Wooden worktops can be sanded, filled and re-oiled, and burns and dents repaired.

Solid surface

Solid surface tops are the same material all the way through, so scratches and burns can often be sanded out and refinished.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

How to look after the repair

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Take care with heavy pans near edges
  • Use a chopping board
  • Use pH-neutral cleaners on stone
  • Oil wooden tops regularly

Wipe water away from joints and around the sink, particularly with laminate and timber.

Daily use can make burns and chips worse, especially near the sink. An earlier repair is a smaller repair.

Signs you need worktop repair in Sutton-on-Hull

Worktops take more punishment than anything else in the kitchen. Hot pans scorch, knives cut, and edges chip when heavy pans or tins hit them.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • A chipped quartz edge
  • Scratches and knife marks
  • Damage around the sink cut-out
  • Chips on edges and corners

Before you book anyone

  • Who turns up on the day
  • What prep work is covered
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How the room is protected while they work
