Repair or replace in Sweffling?

A new worktop means taking out the damaged top, cutting and fitting a new one and refitting the sink and hob, and it may not match the rest of the kitchen. Repairing the damage leaves the worktop in place. Our worktop repair starts from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why us?

  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

See our prices page.

How we price worktop repair

Prices start from £95. We give every job a fixed price from photos. These are the things that affect it:

  • Access to the area
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed quote

You can take the pictures on your phone. Just ensure we can see:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A wider photo showing the entire worktop
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

Sweffling questions

Is a repair better than a new one?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can you repair a chipped quartz worktop?

Yes. We repair quartz chips regularly, matched and polished.

How do I book?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Will the repair match a patterned worktop?

Yes, the pattern is built up by hand so it blends in.

Common problems we fix in Sweffling

Sink and hob cut-outs are weak points, and that is where cracks often begin.

People typically call us after spotting one of these:

  • Scorch marks from pans
  • Chips in quartz or granite
  • Snagging damage in a new kitchen
  • Gouges in the surface

What your quote should include

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • How the colour is matched
  • When it can be used again
  • Who will actually do the work

Choosing a repair company

Work for landlords and builders

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Honest limits

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • A top that moves on its units
  • Laminate swollen by water from underneath
  • Severe heat marks in quartz

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Laminate
  • Solid wood
  • Quartz
  • Granite & marble

How it works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. First we look at the damage and what the worktop is made of.
  2. The area is cleaned and the edges of the damage prepared.
  3. We fill the damage with a suitable filler and build up any lost edge.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The surface is sealed or finished to suit the worktop.

How to prepare

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Aftercare tips

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Never put hot pans down directly
  • Dry around the sink and joints
  • Watch the edges with heavy pans
  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz

Never put hot pans straight onto the worktop. Even stone and quartz can be marked by heat.

Don’t leave damage by the sink, because water gets in and swells the board.

Different materials, different repairs

Quartz

Quartz is tough, though edges can chip. Chips are filled with tinted resin and polished to the worktop’s finish.

Solid surface

Solid surface tops are the same material all the way through, so marks can frequently be sanded and refinished.
