Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before.

Does someone need to be in?

Worktop repair in Taplow without replacing anything

You do not need a new worktop because of one mark. The damage is filled and refinished to blend into the surface around it. Typical jobs include damage to a stone worktop and a dent from a dropped pan, on solid wood, solid surface (such as Corian) and granite & marble.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Taplow and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • What the surface is made of
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How many areas need work

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Getting a price from photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • One picture of the entire worktop
  • What it’s made of, if you know

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Repairs by material

Quartz

Quartz worktops are mostly stone set in resin. We fill and polish chipped edges to match the sheen.

Granite and stone

Granite and stone chip at edges and cut-outs. The repair is filled and polished to the stone’s finish.

What a repair can’t fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • A top that moves on its units
  • Water-swollen laminate
  • Cracks right through stone that has moved

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Quartz
  • Laminate
  • Solid wood
  • Granite & marble

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Re-oil timber worktops
  • Use a chopping board
  • Use pH-neutral cleaners on stone
  • Do not knock pans against the edge

Use chopping boards and trivets, wipe up spills promptly, and keep wooden tops oiled.

A burn or chip can get worse with daily use. An earlier repair is a smaller repair.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Taplow

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Taplow use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take a few hours, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First, we check the damage and the finish we need to match.
  2. Burnt or loose material is cut back.
  3. The area is filled and shaped.
  4. We recreate the pattern, flecks or grain.
  5. We finish it to match the sheen and leave it to cure.
