Bath resealing in Taplow

Bath resealing in Taplow without replacing anything

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and a new seal stops it. If you’re dealing with old sealant that looks dirty and black spots in the silicone, we can generally put it right.

Every job is backed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Why reseal now?

Compared with repairing water damage, resealing is cheap. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Signs you need bath resealing in Taplow

Sealant doesn’t last forever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould feeds on, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

Look out for these signs:

  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • Gaps in the seal
  • Unsealed corners
  • Silicone smeared on tiles

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Questions from Taplow

How do I get a price for bath resealing in Taplow?

The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

How long does silicone take to cure?

You’ll get the curing time from us.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the whole UK, including Taplow and the rest of Windsor and Maidenhead. Send your postcode with your pictures and we’ll offer you dates.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

How we price bath resealing

There’s no area surcharge for Taplow. What changes the price is:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The size and number of damaged areas

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Send photos for a quote

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

The process

Your technician turns up when we said we would and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take about two hours for a bath, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Before we arrive

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Open a window after bathing
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.

Honest limits

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • A flexing bath
  • Hollow or loose tiles

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Repairs by material

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.
