  • Chips on edges and corners
  • Chips caused during installation

  • What protection goes down before work starts

How to compare quotes

Worktop repair in The Wisp without replacing anything

A new worktop rarely matches the old one, particularly where several lengths join. Repairing the damage keeps your kitchen as it is. We regularly repair granite & marble, solid wood and solid surface (such as Corian), and the jobs we see most are chips caused during installation and a chipped edge.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

  • Granite & marble
  • Laminate
  • Quartz
  • Solid wood

The process

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we are doing. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. It normally takes a few hours.

  1. First, we check the damage and the finish we need to match.
  2. Burnt or loose material is cut back.
  3. We fill and shape the damaged area.
  4. The pattern, flecks or grain are recreated.
  5. It’s finished to the same sheen and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Aftercare tips

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Use pH-neutral cleaners on stone
  • Dry around the sink and joints
  • Always use a trivet for hot pans
  • Oil wooden tops regularly

Keep joints and the sink edge dry, particularly with laminate and timber.

Do not leave damage by the sink, because water gets in and swells the board.

The Wisp questions

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Generally, yes. The old repair comes out first.

How much does worktop repair cost in The Wisp?

Prices start from £95. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You’ll get a fixed figure before booking.

Do you repair quartz?

Yes. The repair is colour-matched and polished to the quartz’s finish.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

How do I book?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Are there extra charges for The Wisp?

There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

Can you match granite flecks?

Yes, the pattern is built up by hand.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working that clears as it cures.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • The material and finish
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed price

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Details of any past repairs

For a price in The Wisp, photos are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

For landlords and businesses

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Repairing versus replacing in The Wisp

An identical replacement may look different next to aged worktops. We match the repair to your worktop as it is today. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for The Wisp. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
