Worktop repair for Thorney Holme homes

About our worktop repair in Thorney Holme

We repair worktops in place, with the rest of the kitchen protected. Most repairs take a few hours, and you can use the worktop again shortly afterwards. We regularly repair quartz, solid wood and solid surface (such as Corian), and common reasons people get in touch are gouges in the surface and damage from fitting or building work.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we will come back.

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the worktop is swollen by water or badly damaged along its length, replacement may be the answer. For chips, burns and scratches, a repair is the better value. Our worktop repair starts from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.

What happens on the day

We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. Allow a few hours, depending on the damage.

  1. The area around the damage is protected.
  2. The damage is cleaned and any loose material removed.
  3. We fill it and level it with the worktop.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed and polished to match.

Thorney Holme questions

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Usually, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Do I need to empty the worktop?

Only around the repair. The rest of the kitchen stays usable.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Different materials, different repairs

Granite and stone

Natural stone worktops chip at edges and around cut-outs. We fill and polish the repair to match the stone.

Laminate

Laminate is a printed surface bonded to a board. We fill damage and paint in the pattern by hand.

What we are called out for in Thorney Holme

Around the sink, water gets into joints on laminate and wood, and that can make them swell.

Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • A dent from a dropped pan
  • Chips on edges and corners
  • Chips in quartz or granite
  • Chips caused during installation

Questions to ask before booking

  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show

10 questions to ask before you book

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Keep a trivet by the hob
  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz
  • Clean spills right away
  • Chopping boards prevent scratches

Hot pans should always go on a trivet. Heat can mark quartz and stone as well.

Edge chips can get bigger, and water can reach the core of laminate. An early repair prevents it.

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
