Worktop repair at your home in Tunstall

Different worktops need different repairs: laminate is filled and patterned, quartz and stone are filled and polished, and wood is sanded and refinished. We always aim for a repair that blends in. Typical jobs include a damaged sink edge and burns from hot pans, on laminate, quartz and solid wood.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we will come back.

Aftercare tips

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Don’t let water sit on joints
  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz
  • Watch the edges with heavy pans
  • Use a chopping board

Never put hot pans straight onto the worktop. Heat can mark quartz and stone as well.

Daily use can make burns and chips worse particularly around the sink. An earlier repair is a smaller repair.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

Work for landlords and builders

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details and we will arrange it.

Repair or replace in Tunstall?

Replacing even one length of worktop means templating, cutting, fitting and frequently a new sink and hob connection. A repair is a few hours with everything left in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What affects the price in Tunstall

Repairs from £95. Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • The material and finish
  • Access to the area
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The colour and finish to match

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your pictures

You can take the pictures on your phone, there’s no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the worktop, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

What happens on the day

Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Allow a morning or an afternoon. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. The area around the damage is protected.
  2. The damage is cleaned and any loose material removed.
  3. We fill it and level it with the worktop.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed and polished to match.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
