What worktop repair costs

Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How much damage there is
  • Doing more than one item at once

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Send pictures for a quote

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Most clients in Y Trallwng get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Worktop repair in Y Trallwng without replacing anything

A damaged worktop does not have to mean a new kitchen. The damage is filled and refinished to blend into the surface around it. Common call-outs are for gouges in the surface and chips on edges and corners, across laminate, quartz and solid wood.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

What happens on the day

We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. You can expect it to take a few hours, depending on the damage, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. We protect the rest of the kitchen.
  2. The damage is cleaned and any loose material removed.
  3. It’s filled and levelled with the surface.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed and polished to match.

Honest limits

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Through cracks in stone that is moving
  • Severe heat marks in quartz
  • Water-swollen laminate

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Laminate
  • Granite & marble
  • Solid wood
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Quartz

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

How to look after the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Never put hot pans down directly
  • Clean spills immediately
  • Keep wood oiled
  • Don’t knock pans against the edge

Let the repair cure for the time we give you before putting anything heavy or hot on it. After that, trivets and chopping boards are your best protection.

Edge chips can get bigger, and on laminate, water can get into the core. An early repair prevents it.

Repairing versus replacing in Y Trallwng

Replacing a worktop means taking out the damaged top, cutting and fitting a new one and reconnecting the sink and hob, and it may not match the rest of the kitchen. A repair keeps your existing worktop. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Common questions in Y Trallwng

Can a quartz edge be fixed?

Yes, often. The repair is colour matched and polished to the quartz’s finish.

What happens after I send pictures?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

How do I book?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
