Bath re-enamelling for Alfold Crossways homes

How it works

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a full day. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Preparing for the visit

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, and we take our time over it. Whether it’s chips and rust in more than one place and a coating lifting around the plughole, we can help.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Common questions in Alfold Crossways

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the whole bath and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Do you come to Alfold Crossways?

We do. We send a technician to Alfold Crossways for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Yes, we often do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Is there any odour?

There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Alfold Crossways

Previous coatings can fail too, peeling around the waste or bubbling. We strip what’s failing and start again.

Clients generally contact us about:

  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits

Before booking anyone

  • How the colour is matched
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • What prep work is covered

How to compare quotes

Honest limits

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • A bath that is rusted through
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Repairing versus replacing in Alfold Crossways

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is typically much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s much quicker too. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.

What you get with us

  • One price list for the whole UK
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • A fixed quote before you book
  • Colour-matched on site

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple:

  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The material and finish
  • Doing more than one item at once

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Send photos for a quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A picture taken from further back

Most customers in Alfold Crossways get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.
