About our bath re-enamelling in Alltyblacca
We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Typical jobs include a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and an old resurfacing that’s failing, across acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops.
Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Alltyblacca and across Ceredigion.

When to call us in Alltyblacca
Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.
Look out for any of the following:
- Several chips and rust patches
- Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
- A bath in a colour that no longer suits
- Thin, worn enamel in places

What we cannot put right
We will not take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
- A bath split right through the body
- Holes rusted through the metal
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

For landlords and businesses
Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Ceredigion and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.
Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.
How we price bath re-enamelling
Prices start from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:
- How much damage there is
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- Access to the area
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Getting a price from pictures
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:
- Something in shot to show the size
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- The material, if you know it
No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

What else we do in Alltyblacca
Alltyblacca: your questions answered
Do you hold any accreditations?
We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
Generally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.
Do you charge for travel?
We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.
How long will the bath be out of use?
Normally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.
Will the price change on the day?
If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.
Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?
In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send pictures.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.
Will it make a mess?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
Pressed steel
Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.
Why repair rather than replace?
Replacing a bath normally involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and typically one day, with the bath ready the following day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

How it works
Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes the best part of a day, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.
- First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
- Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
- We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
- Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.
How to prepare
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Make sure the room can be ventilated
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
Getting a price
Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.
Advice
Can I fix it myself?
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
