Need bath re-enamelling in Almington?

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Fix dripping taps quickly

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Almington

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, so we do not cut corners on it. We’re frequently asked to fix lots of chips and rust spots and a coating lifting around the plughole, across basins & shower trays, acrylic baths and cast iron baths.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

When a repair is not the answer

We will not take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Should you replace it?

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why book with us

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Colour-matched on site
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

What we do, step by step

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take most of the day. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can generally be used the next day.

How to prepare

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Ensure the area is dry

Advice

Common questions in Almington

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Will the bath be moved?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Does re-enamelling smell?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

What do you need from me?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Do you cover the entire of Shropshire?

We cover the entire UK, including Almington and the rest of Shropshire. Just include your postcode and we will confirm dates.

Do you work in Almington?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Almington. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How easy the damage is to reach

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Almington. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

What we’re called out for in Almington

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and scrubbing it wears it down further. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
  • Wear marks under the taps
