Bath re-enamelling at your home in Ameysford

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, and we take our time over it. If you’re dealing with chips and rust in more than one place and an outdated colour you’d like to change, we can help, whatever the material.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll come back.

Why repair rather than replace?

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the entire room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing generally wins. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Why us?

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Work done at your home or business
  • A fixed quote before booking
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year

How the visit works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes most of the day. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Ask for a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Advice

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

When a repair is not the answer

A repair isn’t right for every job, including:

  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Ameysford. What changes the price is:

  • The material
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from pictures

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Details of any past repairs
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • One picture of the whole bath

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. There’s no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Have chips seen to early
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Ameysford

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean

What to look for in a quote

  • How to care for the finish
  • Who turns up on the day
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • What happens if they find more damage

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Ameysford

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the whole bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Do you cover the entire of Dorset?

Everywhere in the UK, Ameysford included. Travel is included in the price.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Usually one day, with the bath ready the day after. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders across Dorset.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you’ll get one combined price.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

How long does re-enamelling last?

Look after it and it lasts. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.
