Our bath re-enamelling service in East Renfrewshire
After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, without any of the disruption of replacing it. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. We regularly repair cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays, and common reasons people contact us are a bath in a colour that no longer suits and a coating lifting around the plughole.
From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes the best part of a day, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.
- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.
Cost
Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.
What you get with us
- Work done at your home or business
- Nothing taken out or refitted
- Most jobs done in one visit
- Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
Getting a price
Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. There is no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.
Around Newton Mearns
Locally, our jobs take us to homes close to Mearns Castle High School, Newton Mearns and Belmont House School, among other places. Newton Mearns’s nearest station is Patterton station, roughly 1.1 miles north. A little further out are Leverndale Hospital (4.3 miles north) and Mearns Castle (0.9 miles east). For a walk, there’s Neilston Pad and Brother Loch.
What affects the price in East Renfrewshire
Resurfacing from £350. We price every job individually. What matters most is:
- How much damage there is
- The material and finish
- How hard the colour is to match
- Access to the area
No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
How to get a fixed price
Phone photos are fine, there is no need for anything special. Make sure they show:
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Any details about the material
- Details of any past repairs
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job without visiting.
Honest limits
Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:
- An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.
Cast iron
Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.
Aftercare tips
Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:
- Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
- Have chips seen to early
- Respect the curing time we give you
- Fix dripping taps quickly
Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.
Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and any rust spreads underneath. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.
How the damage happens
Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and scrubbing it wears it down further. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.
Typical reasons for a call-out include:
- A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
- Lots of chips and rust spots
- A coloured bath you want in white
- Worn patches where water runs and sits
East Renfrewshire questions
How long does re-enamelling take?
Usually a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.
Will there be a smell?
Expect a mild smell while we are working, which fades afterwards.
Can tenants book a repair?
Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.
What do you need from me?
Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.
Can you resurface a pink bath in white?
Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send pictures.
Do you do work for letting agents?
We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.
Does re-enamelling smell?
There is some smell while the coating is applied, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.
