Bath Re-enamelling across Thurrock

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Thurrock

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, with the bath ready to use the following day. Nothing is disconnected or removed. We regularly repair Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths, and people most often call us about staining under the taps and around the waste and an outdated colour you’d like to change.

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Plan for a full day from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can usually be used the following day.

Cost

Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing normally costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Repair or replace?

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Resurfacing takes one technician and generally a day, with the bath back in use the following day.

What your quote should include

  • How soon you can use it again
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • Who will actually do the work
  • What preparation is included

Can I fix it myself?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

How to look after the repair

To keep it looking its best:

  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. You will know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • What the surface is made of
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Details of any past repairs

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you’ll get one combined price.

Can you price it without visiting?
