Bath repair at your home in RM16

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. There’s no plumbing to disconnect, your tiles stay as they are, and the repaired area is colour matched so it blends in. Typical jobs include snagging damage from a refit and rust by the waste and overflow, in cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic.

You don’t need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take two to three hours for most chips, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

What you will pay

Our bath repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Why book with us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Work done at your home or business

How to get a price

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Near you in Chadwell St Mary

Our clients here include homes close to Palmer's College, Emmanuel Church and Herringham Primary Academy. For rail, the closest station is East Tilbury station, about 1.8 miles east of the centre. Nearby you will also find Orsett Rural District (1.3 miles north-west) and Ealing Broadway Centre (3.5 miles north-west). For a walk, there’s Thurrock Thameside Nature Park and Sawyers Lake.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath

There is nothing special to do after a repair, beyond gentle cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and give it a rinse after each bath.

Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

When we’d advise against a repair

We will not take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to RM16. The price depends on:

  • Access to the area
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from photos

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Any details about the material
  • Details of any past repairs

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Questions from RM16

When can you do it?

We will give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Generally the day after. We will tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.
