How we handle bath re-enamelling in Arminghall

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. If you are dealing with an original cast iron bath that needs restoring and a bath in a colour that no longer suits, we can usually put it right.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

By the time a bath is a few decades old, it may have a mix of issues: dull areas, chips, rust and staining. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • Lots of chips and rust spots

Our hiring checklist

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Repair or replace in Arminghall?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is normally much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s also far quicker. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Arminghall. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Arminghall

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Norfolk and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

If you manage property in Arminghall, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we will price them together.

What we can’t put right

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A bath that is rusted through

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths

Arminghall: your questions answered

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. Inside and out.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

What information do you need?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Do you cover the entire of Norfolk?

Across the UK, so Arminghall is covered. Our prices are the same everywhere.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Does re-enamelling smell?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Keeping it looking good

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, especially in hard water areas, and rinse off any bath products.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

How the visit works

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes the best part of a day, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.

How to prepare

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Getting a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.
