Bath re-enamelling near Askett

Bath re-enamelling in Askett, done in place

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. Typical jobs include lots of chips and rust spots and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it, on acrylic baths, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Askett. The price reflects:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The material

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Send pictures for a quote

Two or three clear pictures are typically enough. It helps if you send:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Any details about the material

Upload a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, and tell us you’re in Askett, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Askett: your questions answered

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.

Are there extra charges for Askett?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Can you quote from photos?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send pictures.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders.

How long is the bath unusable?

Usually one day, with the bath ready the next day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

Work for landlords and builders

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Askett?

Enamel wears gradually. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use dull the surface, normally first under the taps and around the waste.

Common reasons people in Askett contact us include:

  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

Choosing a repair company

Looking after it afterwards

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale

Dry the bath after use if possible, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading and make the job bigger. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for the best part of a day. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

What we cannot put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
