Bath Re-enamelling in Buckinghamshire

Bath re-enamelling across Buckinghamshire: what to expect

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without taking anything out. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. We’re often asked to fix an outdated colour you’d like to change and a coating lifting around the plughole, on pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays.

There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to most of the day, tidy-up included.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

What’s near Aylesbury

Around Aylesbury, we work in homes near Buckinghamshire UTC, Stocklake Park Community School and The Derby Arms Public House and the streets around them. Also close by are Bearbrook Combined School (0.5 miles west) and Church of St Mary (less than half a mile north). There is a railway station in Aylesbury itself: Aylesbury station. A little further out are Roald Dahl Children's Gallery (within half a mile east) and Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital (within half a mile north). Not far away are Coombe Hill.

When we would advise against a repair

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • A metal bath with a through crack

How the damage happens

By the time a bath is a few decades old, it may have a mix of issues: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How many areas need work
  • The material and finish

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Landlord and trade work in Buckinghamshire

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

FAQs for Buckinghamshire

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

Will there be fumes?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
