Bath re-enamelling near Audlem

Bath re-enamelling in Audlem, done in place

Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. Common call-outs are for an outdated colour you’d like to change and a roll-top that’s seen better days, across Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

How it works

We agree an arrival time beforehand. On site, it takes a full day for most jobs. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s typically ready the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Make sure the area is dry

What a repair cannot fix

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • A bath that is rusted through

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

Repair or replace in Audlem?

A refit takes several trades and several days. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, with the bath ready the following day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Why us?

  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface

Audlem questions

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

Do you charge for travel?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

How do I book?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Do you cover the entire of Cheshire East?

The entire UK, including all of Cheshire East. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

For landlords and businesses

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

If you manage property in Audlem, we will quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we’ll price them together.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The colour and finish to match
  • The material and finish
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

How to get a fixed quote

Two or three clear photos are typically enough. Try to include:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Most clients in Audlem get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Audlem?

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and scrubbing it wears it down further. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

Look out for these signs:

  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it

What to look for in a quote

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • What preparation is included
  • What aftercare is recommended
