Bath re-enamelling for Bath homes

Bath re-enamelling in Bath without replacing anything

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Common call-outs are for enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and a coating lifting around the plughole, on acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and pressed steel baths.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll sort it.

What affects the price in Bath

Resurfacing from £350. We price every job individually, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material and finish
  • Unusual colours or finishes

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Quotes from your pictures

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

To get a price, send two or three photos through our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Bath questions

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

What happens after I send pictures?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Is there any odour?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Will there be fumes?

A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Keeping it looking good

Aftercare is simple:

  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Bath

By the time a bath is a few decades old, it may have a mix of issues: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Stains that won’t shift
  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Lots of chips and rust spots

How to compare quotes

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

How the visit works

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Allow most of the day. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Related advice

What we cannot put right

We will not take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Holes rusted through the metal

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Landlords, agents and businesses in Bath

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details.

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
