Bath re-enamelling for Beeston homes

Bath re-enamelling in Beeston without replacing anything

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without taking anything out. It’s the answer when the whole bath is tired rather than one spot. We are frequently asked to fix an original cast iron bath that needs restoring and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean, on Victorian roll-tops, basins & shower trays and pressed steel baths.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

What we’re called out for in Beeston

In hard water areas, limescale and the cleaning it needs wear enamel faster, and abrasive cleaners do the most damage.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we’re there. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes most of the day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.

Before we arrive

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath

Dry the bath after use if possible, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

FAQs for Beeston

How long will the bath be out of use?

Most baths are done in a day, ready the next day. We will confirm timings when we quote.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Beeston. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Will the bath be moved?

No. We resurface it in place, so the tiles and taps stay put.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before and we’ll plan for it.

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the whole UK, including Beeston and the rest of Norfolk. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll confirm dates.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
