Bath re-enamelling in Stanfield

Bath re-enamelling in Stanfield without replacing anything

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. Typical jobs include thin, worn enamel in places and several chips and rust patches, in pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops.

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Norfolk.

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

How to care for the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Respect the curing time we give you

Dry the bath after use if possible, and rinse off any bath products.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

What a repair can’t fix

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Stanfield. The price reflects:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Access to the area
  • How many areas need work

Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Getting a price from pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Any details about the material
  • Where you are, by postcode

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

How the visit works

We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we are doing. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. It normally takes a full day, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Ensure the area is dry

Advice

Questions from Stanfield

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

What information do you need?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the whole bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Will the bath be moved?

No, it stays where it is. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.

Do you cover the entire of Norfolk?

We cover the entire UK, including Stanfield and the rest of Norfolk. Send your postcode with your pictures and we’ll offer you dates.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Usually, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Resurfacing from £350. We give a fixed price from your photos. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item and your postcode.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Prices start from £350. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

For landlords and businesses

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit.

For anyone letting property in or around Stanfield, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we will price them together.
