How we handle bath re-enamelling in Beighton

What bath re-enamelling costs
Prices start from £350. You won’t pay by the hour. The price depends on:
- The material
- The type of damage
- Access to the area
- How much damage there is
Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Beighton. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
Getting a price from pictures
A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:
- A picture taken from further back
- Details of any past repairs
- What it’s made of, if you know
- Natural light rather than flash
Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. There is no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.
Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.
Repairing versus replacing in Beighton
A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the whole surface with the bath left where it is. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

What we do, step by step
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Allow the best part of a day. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.
- First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
- Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
- We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
- We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
- We leave it to cure, and it’s generally ready the following day.
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know which floor the room is on
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Have a window or extractor fan available

DIY repairs versus a professional job
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

Beighton: your questions answered
How long will the bath be out of use?
One day for most baths and can be used the day after. We will confirm timings when we quote.
Does re-enamelling smell?
There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.
Do I have to be there?
We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.
How soon can you come?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.
What happens once I’ve sent photos?
We review the photos and send a fixed quote with dates.
Are there extra charges for Beighton?
We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.
How durable is a resurfaced bath?
That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted.
What we can’t put right
We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
- Steel that has corroded right through
- Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.
What we work on
- Acrylic baths
- Pressed steel baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Basins & shower trays
- Cast iron baths
How to look after the repair
To keep it looking its best:
- Store bottles off the bath
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
- A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, especially in hard water areas, and rinse away any product left on the surface.
Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
