Should you replace it?

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the whole room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

What you get with us

  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Usually one visit, start to finish

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, especially in hard water areas, to stop limescale building up.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

What affects the price in Damgate

Resurfacing from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Damgate. The price depends on:

  • What the surface is made of
  • How much damage there is
  • Access to the area
  • Doing more than one item at once

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before you book.

How to get a fixed quote

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

To get a price, send two or three pictures through our quote form or ring us. We will say right away whether it can be repaired.

When we’d advise against a repair

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • A bath that is rusted through
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths

How the visit works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes the best part of a day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

Common questions in Damgate

Do you need to take the bath out?

No. We resurface it in place, so nothing else is disturbed.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Damgate. Prices do not change with location.

Can you quote from pictures?

In nearly every case. If pictures do not show enough, we will ask for another angle.

What information do you need?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

Do the materials smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working, which fades afterwards.
