Bells Yew Green: your questions answered
Do I need to be at home?
We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted.
What areas do you cover?
We cover the whole UK, including Bells Yew Green and the rest of Kent. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will offer you dates.
Do the materials smell?
There can be some smell while we work. It fades as everything cures.
What do you need from me?
Photos of the damage, a picture of the whole bath and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.
Can a failed resurfacing be redone?
Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.
Will the new finish last?
It depends on preparation, use and care. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.
What if the damage is worse than the photos show?
Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. If there is more, we will tell you before starting.
Bath re-enamelling in Bells Yew Green without replacing anything
Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. Common call-outs are for wear marks under the taps and a coating lifting around the plughole, in pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths.
Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Bells Yew Green and across Kent.

What your bath is made of matters
Pressed steel
Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.
Acrylic
We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.
Why repair rather than replace?
Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish without moving it. Prices start from £350. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Can I fix it myself?
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
Aftercare tips
It’s all simple stuff:
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
- Respect the curing time we give you
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
- Never use suction bath mats
Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse away any product left on the surface.
Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
When we would advise against a repair
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
- A metal bath with a through crack
- A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.
