Bath re-enamelling at your home in Benhall Street

We re-enamel a lot of period and roll-top baths, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. We’re often asked to fix enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and a bath in a colour that no longer suits, on acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

What a repair can’t fix

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • A bath split right through the body

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Benhall Street questions

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

Do you come to Benhall Street?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Benhall Street and the rest of Suffolk. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Yes. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Will the new finish last?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Are there extra charges for Benhall Street?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Can you price it without visiting?

Generally, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Common problems we fix in Benhall Street

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough

Questions to ask before you book

  • What aftercare is recommended
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • How long it needs to cure

Our hiring checklist

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

How it works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. It normally takes the best part of a day, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The material and finish
  • The colour and finish to match
  • The type of damage

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before booking.

Quotes from your photos

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Any details about the material
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Email us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your IP17 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.
